2013 Volunteer Coaches

Zauhar, Stumpf, Huesmann

Mike Zauhar

Coach Zauhar graduated from Brainerd High School in 2002 where he was a 2-time All Conference selection in Football, Basketball, and Baseball. In 2006, he received his B.A. degree in Natural Science from St. John’s University. Coach Zauhar was a 2-time All Conference selection and a 2003 DIII National Champion as a cornerback while at St. John’s. In 2010, he graduated from Northwestern Health Sciences University earning his Doctorate in Chiropractic. He currently practices in Brainerd. This is coach Zauhar’s 2nd year as a volunteer coach for the Warriors.

John Stumpf

John is a graduate of Brainerd High School, where he played offensive line for Coach Ron Stolski. He received a B.S. degree from Concordia College in Accounting. At Concordia he continued his football career under coach Terry Horan, as a fullback for the Cobbers. He has been a volunteer coach for the Warriors for the past 3 season. John currently is employed at CliftonLarsonAllen LLP as a staff accountant.

Mike Huesmann

Coach Huesmann is in his 3rd year assisting with the Warriors. He is a 2003 graduate who played wide receiver for the Warriors. He continued his playing career at Gustavus Adolphus College where he earned his B.A. in history and coaching and then coached one season for the Gusties. Mike spent 2 years at Northwestern State University in Louisiana as a graduate assistant coach working with Demons defensive backs and as video coordinator where he earned hi M.S. in sport administration. He will assist the Warrior defense and video units.

2013 coaches

Our coaching staff consists of the following coaches.

(Head Coach)

Ron Stolski

Graduate of Patrick Henry High School where he captained the football and basketballteams. He received his BA degree from Macalester College and M.S. from St. Cloud State University. With a record of 343-155-5, Stolski begins his 52nd year as a head coach, the last 39 in Brainerd. He is the winningest active coach in Minnesota history.

Honors include serving as past President and current Executive Director of the MN H.S. Football Coaches Association and being inducted into the Brainerd H.S. Hall of Fame 2005. In 2005 Coach Stolski was the recipient of the AFCA’s Power of Influence Award. The award is presented to only one high school coach in the nation, and is the highest honor presented to a high school coach by the American Football Coaches Association. In 2008, Coach Stolski was inducted into the Minnesota Football Coaches Hall of Fame. Chosen Viking Coach of the Year 2009. Chosen MN High School Coach of the Year 2010. MSHSL Hall of Fame 2013.

Deryl Ramey

Graduate of Atwater High School where he earned 17 letters in football, track, baseball and basketball. Coach Ramey received his B.S. degree from the University of Minnesota,where he played for the Gophers and his M.S. degree from St. Cloud State University.

Deryl’s career spanned 29 years with coaching tenure at Atwater, Sauk Centre, University of Minnesota at Crookston and Willmar high School. His coaching honors include 3 District of the Year awards. MICAA Coach of the Year in 1973 to 75. Coach Ramey’s teams won 7 Central Lakes titles in his 18 year career at Willmar and 6 times he was Coach of the Year. In 2004 Deryl was inducted into the Minnesota High School Football Hall of Fame. Served as the honorary coach to the 2009 State All-Star Team and Legend Coach of the 2011 All Star Team.

(Co-Offensive Coordinator)

Bob Brakke

Graduate of Willmar High School. He received his B.S. and M.S. Degrees from North Dakota University and the University of St. Thomas in Education. Jeff started his coaching career at Bakersfield High School in California and came to Brainerd in 1987, this is his 26th year. Coach Ramey coaches the quarterbacks and is the Co-Offensive Coordinator for the Warriors.

Coach Ramey's awards include: Butch Nash Assistant Coach of the Year and the Bud Schmidt Award. In 2005 Jeff was  the offensive coordinator for the out-state All Star game.

(Offensive Line)

Graduate of Princeton High School where he played for Coach Stolski and was an All-State player in football. He received his B.S. and M.S. degrees from the University of North Dakota. While at UND, he was captain and Most Valuable Offensive Lineman. Chet has 38 years of coaching experience with one at UND and 37 years at Brainerd.  

Coach Stevenson’s awards include: UND Tom Clifford Award, Butch Nash Assistant Coach of the Year Award, The Stephen Nunnink Assistant Coach CLC, Bud Schmidt Award and served as an All-Star coach. Recently inducted into MN Strength Coaches Hall of Fame, BHS Hall of Fame.

(Co-Offensive Coordinator)

Troy Nelson

One of several former Warrior players on the Warrior coaching staff, Troy earned his B.S. degree in Math from Moorhead State University and his M.S. in Education Leadership from Southwest Minnesota State University. Troy’s coaching experience includes one year stays at Moorhead and Litchfield. Troy will be in his 14th year with the Warriors and is Co-Offensive Coordinator.

(Inside Linebackers)

Scott Parsons

Scott is in his 36th year on the Brainerd staff. Coach Parsons is graduate of Park Center High school where he was an outstanding linebacker for the Pirates. His undergraduate degree is from St. Cloud State University in Special Education and Psychology. While attending St. Cloud, he continued his football career as a linebacker for the Huskies. Scott has earned his reputation as one of the top linebackers coaches in the state, developing several all conference players. Was a 2009 recipient of the Butch Nash Assistant Coach of the Year Award.

(Defensive Linemen)

Aron Anderson

Coach Anderson received his B.A. degree from Gustavus Adolphus College in Physical Education, Health, Adaptive Physical Education and Special Education. Coach Anderson earned All Conference Honors as a Nose Guard while at Gustavus. Aron is in his 21st season with the Warriors. In addition to his coaching duties, Aron serves as the High School equipment manager.

(Defensive Coordinator)

Graduate of Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn High School.  Jason is in his 6th year with the Warriors.  Coach Freed attended and played football for Luther College. He coached at Houston High School, where he turned around a struggling program and led them to back to back State Tournament appearances, with the highlight of winning the 2008 9-man State title. Freed was named two time conference and section coach of the year, 2008 MN Vikings Coach of the Year, and he coached in the 2009 All-Star Game.

(Varsity Secondary Coach)

Tom played for the Warriors in the early 80’s. He was All-CLC selection. Tom played one year at Brainerd Community College before going to St. Cloud State, where he was a 3 year starter, All-NCC 1st team, and voted most valuable defensive back for the Huskies. Tom then played in the World Football League for one season before taking the head coaching position at Pequot Lakes High School where he served for 11 seasons. He has been with the Warriors for the past 9 seasons, 5 with the ninth grade and the past 4 with the sophomores.

(Head Sophomore Coach)

Coach Langer was an All Conference Football player at Wadena High School. He attended Wahpeton Junior College earning All Conference Honors and then on to Moorhead State University where he again won All Conference Honors as well as a Co-Most Valuable Player Award. Mike received a M.S. degree from St.Thomas University in Special Education. Coach Langer is in his 14th year on the Warrior staff and directs the Sophomore line. Mike was the Head Football Coach at Pillager for 11 years winning one conference championship and one coach of the year award.

(Sophomore Def. Coordinator

Joe Pohlkamp

A Pierz High School graduate who was a two- time All Conference Selection in football, basketball and baseball. Joe earned his undergraduate degree from St. Cloud University and his Masters Degree from Southwest State University. Coach Pohlkamp spent two years coaching at Blue Earth H.S. before moving to Lake City where he was both an offensive and defensive coordinator during his seven years there. For the past 14 years Joe has helped direct the Warrior Sophomore squad.  Joe’s honors include: 1985 All Conference Honorable Mention for St. Cloud State, 1986 captain of the Huskies and the Keith Nord Award as the most dedicated football player.

(Sophomore Offensive Backs)

Wade earned his B.S. from St. Cloud State University in Special Education with a Coaching minor. Wade's coaching expereince includes one year at Pequot Lakes and the past seven years in the Brainerd program. Wade was a two time All Conference Selection in 1993 adn 1994 for the Warriors. In 1995, he was Brainerd High School Athlete of the Year. Wade, as a member of the 1995 Brainerd State Championship baseball team, delivered the game winning RBI against Rosemount.
